Wat zijn ze mooi, die kleine kalfjes… Ik raak er niet op uitgekeken en bij ieder nieuw portret dat ik maak, zie ik weer andere dingen. Zo heb ik in dit portret alle focus gelegd op het hoofd alleen. Van de oren is slechts een suggestie zichtbaar. De neus heeft wel mijn bijzondere aandacht gekregen. Wat een mooi contrast in textuur tussen gladde huid en het zachtbehaarde gedeelte eromheen. En de glans op dit kleine jersey neusje lijkt wel metallic! Het portret is getekend in houtskool en pastel op handgetint papier en ingelijst in een op maat gemaakte aluminium baklijst met inleg. Deze lijst meet 50 x 50 cm en is voorzien van museumglas, het mooiste heldere dubbelzijdig ontspiegelde glas.

 They are so pretty, little calves.. I never get bored of them and every time I portray them I discover new things. This time I wanted the attention on -just- the head so I made only a suggestion of the ears. And next to that, I put more focus on the nose; the contrast between the texture of the wet, shiney nose with its metallic gloss and the area around it that is so soft, matte and furry… beautiful details! I painted this portrait in charcoal and pastels on handtoned paper. For the framing I picked (again, my favorite) custom made black aluminium floater frame with museumglass. The dimensions of the framed work are 50 x 50 cms.
